At alltheway, every shirt is hand crafted carefully. Below, we break down what it's made of, why it behaves the way it does, and how to care for it so it lasts for years — not seasons.
MATERIALS BREAKDOWN — KNOW WHAT TOUCHES YOUR SKIN
"WE DON'T USE ANY SYNTHETIC BLENDS, SOFTENERS OR PERFORMANCE COATINGS."
HOW OUR SHIRTS BEHAVE
Because our shirts avoid synthetic treatments, they behave differently from conventional garments. It breathes better but does not trap heat. It absorbs moisture instead of repelling it. It softens over time instead of breaking down. It ages naturally, not artificially. If you're used to chemically treated clothing, this may feel different at first. That difference is intentional.
WASH CARE GUIDE
Understanding how natural materials behave and treating them accordingly will help keep the garment's natural state for longer.
BEFORE FIRST WEAR
No mandatory pre-wash is required. If you prefer washing before wear, follow the care instructions below.
WASHING
Hand wash in cold water for optimal care. If machine washing is necessary: Use cold water only (maximum 30°C). Select a gentle or delicate cycle. Wash with like colours. Natural fibres and plant-based dyes respond best to minimal agitation and low temperatures.
DETERGENT
Use a mild, chlorine-free, pH-neutral detergent or natural soap. Prefer plant-based or biodegradable options. Avoid: Bleach, Optical brighteners, Enzymes, Fabric softeners. These substances weaken natural fibres and strip plant-based colour.
DRYING
Do not wring or twist the garment. Gently press out excess water or allow it to drip dry naturally. Do not use dryer. Line dry in shade, preferably away from direct sunlight. Extended exposure to harsh sun may cause gradual fading — a natural characteristic of plant dyes.
IRONING
Iron on low to medium heat, or use steam. For best results, iron while slightly damp and turn the garment inside-out.
"EACH WASH TELLS A STORY. NO TWO SHIRTS WILL AGE THE SAME."
COLOUR & PATINA
Natural dyes behave differently from synthetic dyes. Slight colour variation is normal. There might be color spots — it's part of natural dye process. Gradual soft fading may occur with repeated washing. This creates a patina, not wear. Each wash tells a story. No two shirts will age the same.
STORAGE & LONG-TERM CARE
Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid plastic covers — use breathable cotton storage. Do not store when damp. For long periods of non-use, airing the garment occasionally is better than frequent washing.
WHAT NOT TO DO
To preserve the integrity of your shirt, avoid: Dry cleaning (involves chemical solvents). Stain repellents or sprays. Harsh spot-cleaning agents.
END OF LIFE
This shirt was designed with its full lifecycle in mind. Made entirely from natural, biodegradable materials. Free from synthetic blends that prevent or slow safe decomposition. When cared for well, it will last years. When it's finally done, it won't outlive us.
